Forum: prelinger Subject: help with downloads

Hello, I'm a first-time user here at Prelinger and I'm very giddy at the wealth of resources. I'd like to go right ahead and integrate some of these files into my projects but I'm encountering two problems (I hope I don't seem an idiot.):

1. When I tried to dL a movie in mpeg4 format, the file did not dL as a file onto my computer but as a video in my firefox tab. I could view the video on a quicktime player in the browser but was unable to capture it onto my computer. Am I doing something wrong?
2. I also attempted to dL the videos in mpeg2, but it never downloaded. Is my computer too slow or does it not have the minimum requirements? (currently using the new macbook)

Thanks for your help!

Downloading in Firefox, make sure you select the Download (not the Stream) link, right click, and select "Save link as" to save the file, otherwise Firefox will try to play it.

If you are not getting the whole file, the connection is probably getting closed before it is done. This could happen if you have a slow internet connection or the server or network is very busy, or a hundred other reasons. Notice that there should be links that say HTTP and FTP at the bottom of the Download box. Firefox would normally use HTTP, but you might have better luck using FTP (not sure if Firefox has a built in ftp client though).

Steve, you are a GENIUS... or at least more competent with internet dealings than I am. Thank you very much.
